Poseidon god of war ascension4/29/2023 His Godlike powers make the powers of even the other Gods pale in comparison. The Greek God of lightning, rain, and winds watched Kratos murder every God and Demigod in his way to finally meet him in battle. It took Kratos three whole games to come even close to defeating Zeus. Zeus, The God Of Skies, & Kratos’ Ultimate Nemesis God of War 3 – Zeus Athena even appeared in an ethereal form in 2018’s God of War. There was camaraderie between Kratos and Athena, a privilege no other Greek God enjoyed. God of War would benefit from having Athena in the Amazon series. That alone shows just how powerful a God she was. Despite never having shown her mettle in battle, Athena’s words were paid heed to by the rest of the Greek Gods. But it was her knowledge that the rest of the Gods respected. She had unique abilities like weapon-creation and divine wisdom. But she was a vital part of the Greek Pantheon. Athena’s Wisdom Was Respected In God Of War God of War (2018) – AthenaĪthena never fought Kratos in the game. Kratos just snapped his neck like a twig instead of killing him with a Godly weapon. His death was the most belittling of the rest of the Gods. He could summon mythical creatures of the abyss to aid him in battle. The Greek God of the Sea reigned hell on the Titans when they were trying to scale Mount Olympus. It took Kratos the help of Gaia to even come close to beating Poseidon. In God of War 3, he took the form of a giant sea monster and made full use of his underwater abilities. ![]() Just like Thanatos, Poseidon was there before Zeus took over the Olympian throne. Poseidon – The Sea God That Almost Killed Kratos God of War 3 – Poseidon In God of War: Ascension, it is revealed that Ares was constantly at war with the other Gods and tried to use the Furies to overthrow Zeus. Ares is also an interesting God that could make some real headway in the God of War series. Back when Kratos was still not at the pinnacle of his powers, he had to rely on the Pandora’s Box to even match up to Ares. His evil machinations tricked Kratos into killing his own family and becoming the ‘Ghost Of Sparta’, the scourge of Olympus. Ares Is The Reason The Ghost Of Sparta Exists In God of War God of War – AresĪres may not be as powerful as the other gods. Thanatos transforms himself into an all-consuming merciless creature. He could control hordes of bodies as his personal army. ![]() The God has absolute control over death and could entrap a corpse, preventing it from dying for all eternity and remain under his command. But unlike Hades, Thanatos was even scarier. Consider him as a more powerful and refined version of the Greek God of the Underworld – Hades. Without Deimos’ assistance, Kratos could never have been able to beat this dude. ![]() He was there long before Zeus took over Mount Olympus. Thanatos is the original ruler of the dead. And if the Amazon God of War series wills it, we can finally witness their death in live action, a dream come true!! Thanatos Has An Origin Story That Predates Even Zeus God of War – Thanatos Hades seems to be an attempt to do different rather then just making him a red devil (they still do but seem to tie him closer to the Hellenic aesthetic)Īphrodite is definitely a lot more outwardly lustful which I think reflect the nature of her "boss fight"Ītlas though is interesting, typically Titans aren't portrayed all that differently from the Gods and are just an earlier iteration of them (more like the Vanir Vs Aesir dynamic) so I think the redesign was done to help distinguish the two groups, with the Olympians being more "classically divine" with the Titans being more along the lines of "living forces of nature".All the Gods on this list met their doom at the hands of Kratos. Poseidon was likely similar, playing more into the raging King of the Seas idea then I did In the subsequent series, Zeus was a ruthless God King who had no problem tyrannizing those under him to get what he wanted (there's also him being more menacing as a final boss) Zeus likely was to reflect how his character developled across the series, In the original, Zeus is simply a fairly benevolent old king who helps Kratos defeat Ares. The redesigns I think are an interesting question though Basically yeah GOW I was standalone and there wasn't a sequel plan (although there were teases for the possibility throughout the game).
